Trip Itinerary

Arrive at San Pedro Sula International Airport (SAP) and transfer to Santa Bárbara, one of Honduras’ most important coffee regions. Settle in and enjoy a welcome dinner at the coffee shop Pinequitas. The evening continues with a lively cultural experience featuring traditional marimba music and local beverages, offering a warm introduction to Honduran traditions and hospitality. Lodging: Santa Bárbara.

Travel to El Aguacatal, where you will experience local traditions connected to coffee culture, including the making of rosquillas (a traditional snack enjoyed with coffee) and the crafting of junco fiber products used by coffee workers. A visit to a sugarcane mill may also be included. In the afternoon, enjoy lunch at a local finca followed by an introduction to Honduran coffee—its history, regions, and importance. At Finca Las Pinequitas, explore the farm and participate in an interactive sensory session to begin understanding how coffee flavors are perceived and evaluated. Lodging: Santa Bárbara.

This day focuses on guided coffee tastings designed to introduce participants to the diversity of Honduran coffee. Through structured cupping sessions, you will explore different coffee types and regional profiles. You will also learn to identify common flavor characteristics and recognize undesirable notes, building a foundational understanding of how coffee quality is assessed. Lodging: Santa Bárbara.

Travel to Marcala, another renowned coffee-producing region. Visit COMSA, where you will tour a cupping laboratory and learn about dry milling and post-harvest processes. This visit provides valuable insight into how coffee is prepared for export and how quality is maintained throughout the supply chain. Lodging: Marcala.

Transfer to Lake Yojoa, the largest natural lake in Honduras. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing boat or kayak tour surrounded by scenic landscapes and rich biodiversity. This day balances the learning experience with leisure, allowing participants to connect with Honduras’ natural beauty. Lodging: Lake Yojoa.

Explore Cerro Azul Meámbar National Park with a guided walk through its cloud forest, offering a glimpse into the ecosystems that support coffee production. In the afternoon, visit Luna del Puente for a chocolate tour, where you will learn about cacao and its transformation into fine chocolate—complementing your understanding of flavor and origin. Lodging: Lake Yojoa.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return journey, taking with you a deeper appreciation of Honduran coffee, culture, and origin.
